How this is different from an AI detector

AI-text and AI-image detectors try to guess whether content was machine-generated by analyzing patterns after the fact — a probabilistic, often unreliable process. Certivu does something different: it checks for a cryptographic signature (ML-DSA, a NIST post-quantum standard) and a resilient watermark that an AI generator deliberately attached to the content at creation time. If that signed provenance is present and valid, verification is a fact, not a guess. If it's absent, Certivu says so — it does not claim the content is human-made.

What your result means

Is this an AI content detector?
No. Certivu does not analyze content to guess whether it was AI-generated. It verifies cryptographic provenance — an ML-DSA post-quantum signature and/or resilient watermark that an AI generator deliberately attached at creation time. If content was never signed, Certivu returns no_provenance_found rather than a detection guess.
What do the confidence levels mean?
High confidence means a watermark, provenance record, and cryptographic signature all validated together. Medium means the signed record and signature validated but no watermark was recovered (common after edits that strip metadata). Low means only partial signals matched. None means no provenance data was found at all — this does not mean the content is human-made, only that no signed provenance was detected.
Does 'No Provenance Found' mean this content is human-made?
No. Absence of provenance data does not imply human origin. Certivu verifies signed provenance when present — it does not claim to detect all AI-generated content, signed or not.
What file types can I verify?
Images (PNG, JPEG, WebP), audio (MP3, FLAC, WAV), video (MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM), and documents (PDF, HTML, plain text). Format is auto-detected from file contents.
Is verification free?
Yes, always. Verification is unlimited and free with no account required — only signing (attaching provenance to new content) is a paid, quota-metered feature for AI generators and platforms.
